4-H LIVESTOCK SHOW GENERAL RULES AND REGULATIONS
ALL ANIMALS MUST HAVE CLEAN HEALTH CERTIFICATE AND ALL MARKET ANIMALS WILL BE WEIGHED WHEN UNLOADED.
1. Each animal shown at the Delta Fair must be nominated by July 24. ALL animals must have official identification (ear tag, ear notch, tattoo, etc.) when nominated. ALL animals must also be registered by August 28. Registration forms are to be mailed to Dale McClelland, 1540 Greene 715 Road, Paragould, AR 72450 or emailed to 4mfarms3291@gmail.com. If animals are not officially identified, nominated and registered, they will NOT be eligible to show or sell at the fair. There will be NO exceptions.
2. 4-H classes are open to 4-H members who live in Dunklin County, Stoddard County, New Madrid County, Butler County and Pemiscot County, Missouri. Members entering livestock must be paid-up, active members in their chapters or clubs in order to be eligible for premiums.
3. Any question of sickness in exhibited livestock will be resolved by inspection by a DVM. Sick animals will be removed upon the recommendations of the veterinarian, regardless of the health certificate in possession. Health papers should be given to livestock committee before animals are unloaded.
4. All entries will be accepted from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Monday for the Delta Fair. Weigh-in will be at 5:30 p.m. Due to lack of washing facilities, all animals must be washed and cleaned before arrival. The show will be Thursday of the Delta Fair, and will begin at 6:00 p.m.
5. Livestock can be checked out between the hours of 8:00 a.m. through 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, day after the Delta Fair.
6. Each exhibitor mush show their own animal in each class unless they have more than one animal in the same class; then, they may choose someone to exhibit the extra animal for them.
7. All judging will be done by the Danish system, which includes blue, red, and white ribbon groups. Each animal will be judged on its own merit. All ribbons will be awarded at the judge’s discretion. The decision of the judge is final.
8. Exhibitors are limited to two entries per class species.
9. Exhibitors in market classes will be limited to showing not more than 2 market hogs, 2 market lambs, 2 market goats, and 2 rabbits. Only one animal each can be sold, UNLESS the exhibitor has both Grand and Reserve of that species.
10. The decision of the judge will be final and irrevocable in regard to premiums awarded. In any show where there is only one entry, the judge reserved the right to award less than first premium, if entry does not warrant the same.
11. A quorum of the livestock committee may reserve the right to discontinue any livestock activity in the event of bad weather or other unavoidable causes.
12. The time between shows will be held to ten (10) minutes after the previous show, NO EXCEPTIONS.
13. Only the Judge, Livestock Chairman, Livestock Co-Chairman and Exhibitor may be in the ring during show.
14. No responsibility will be taken in case of fire, theft, damage, injury, or death of any person, animal or article.
15. Each livestock exhibitor is responsible for feeding and watering daily of their livestock and for furnishing the bedding, feed, water, water bucket, and feed bucket.
16. All entries must, in all cases, be made in the clerk’s books, and entry ticket attached before animals will be permitted to compete for premiums.
17. Leaders of 4-H will be responsible for the conduct of their members. Misconduct means withdrawal of exhibits. Parents will assume the responsibility for youth ages 7 and under. In accordance with the State 4-H Office, youth enrolled as 4-H Clover Kids will not be eligible to show or sell in any livestock category.
18. Exhibitor must be present for animal to show.
19. All exhibitors are required to complete the Missouri Show Me Quality Assurance certification program in order to show their animals.
20. There will be NO POULTRY entries.
MARKET SWINE
Age Limit: Must not be older than 8 months.
Weight Limit: 235 – 320 pounds
Two pigs per exhibitor may be shown.
Must have premise ID Tags, 840 tags and clean health papers from a certified veterinarian.
MARKET SHEEP
Age Limit: Must not be older than 12 months.
Weight Limit: 50 – 175 pounds
Two lambs per exhibitor may be shown.
Must have Scrapies ID Tags in ears and clean health papers from a certified veterinarian.
MARKET GOATS
Age Limit: Must not be older than 12 months.
Weight Limit: 25 – 150 pounds
Two goats per exhibitor may be shown.
Must have Scrapies ID Tags in ears and clean health papers from a certified veterinarian.
MARKET RABBITS
Age Limit: Must not be older than 6 months.
Weight Limit: NONE
Two rabbits per exhibitor may be shown.
Must have identification tattoos in ears and clean health papers from a certified veterinarian.
NO ANIMALS CAN BE NOMINATED, REGISTERED, OR SHOWN BY MORE THAN ONE EXHIBITOR.
RULES AND REGULATIONS:
NOTE: Entries must be picked up Saturday between 9:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m.
1) All exhibitors MUST be members of 4-H Clubs in the Delta Fair trade area.
2) All entries MUST be the work of the exhibitor, and shall have been made within the past 12 months.
3) Entries will be accepted on the Monday before the Fair, between the hours of 1:00 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.
4) All entries MUST remain on display until 8:00 p.m., Saturday (last day of the Fair).
5) All entries MUST be marked with a label, placed inside or underneath, giving entrant’s name and address.
6) Awards will be made on classes listed in Premium Schedule ONLY.
7) The exhibitor MUST arrange to have exhibits picked up between 9:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m., Saturday (last night of Fair). The sponsors will take every precaution to prevent damage or loss, but cannot be responsible if any such damage or loss does occur.
8) Blue, Red, and White ribbon winners receive the points indicated in premium list. Each point shall be worth no less than 50 cents.
9) No contestant will be allowed more than one entry per lot (per class, if no lot).
10) Items not listed in this category will not be accepted.
11) All canned goods MUST be in standard jars.
12) Best of Show Rosettes will be awarded in clothing, foods, and crafts, and will receive $15.00.
